Nicely done! I'm pretty sure I know some Aussies who couldn't tell you who Walter Burley Griffin was!
2) I'm going to have to guess on this one...Sydney? Though are we talkin' square footage or population?
Well done again! And, although I don't have the data to back it up, I suspect Sydney is our largest city both on area and population. Sydney has approximately 4 - 5 million people living in it, and the surrounding cities/suburbs. In a country of 21 million people, it has almost 20% of our population. Bear in mind that Australia is almost the same size as the continental United States of America, so our population is quite spread out.
3) New South Wales and Victoria...I've had the advantage of reading "In A Sunburned Country" by Bill Bryson and enjoyed every page of it. I have repeatedly recommended it to several of my friends and relatives and they blow me off...they're missing a treat.
And Auld Argonian wins the prize!! Well, he would if there was a prize, which there ain't... but yes, New South Wales and Victoria are indeed two states of Australia.
Anyone care to name them all? Come on, America - there are only six states and two territories...you've got three of them, name the rest! ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Well done, AA! ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Then again, I doubt a majority of Americans could name a single city in Idaho, so perhaps we still wouldn't come out even on the comparison. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

This is reminding me of one of Eddie Izzard's routines where he mentions something about a another country to an American audience that they don't respond. He stares at them and asks:
"Do you know that there are other countries?"

That's a lie. There are no other countries, only regions which have not yet achieved statehood. ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
I hear we've offered to let that Elizabeth chick be Governor of England, if she can get elected....
