Welcome, bikeolounger, from the great Central Valley of California. Now that I've finished my cross-country tour astride a wedgie (an Atlantis by Rivendell with a well-worn Brooks B-17 saddle), I may have to aquiesce to my aging frame and convert to a 'bent.

Cool, a 'Zak! I've worked on a couple of them (used to be the main tech at a bike shop that sold 'bents), and enjoyed riding them. My first recumbent was a Linear (1992), and it got replaced by a Vanguard. I still have the Vanguard, and added (then sold) a BikeE AT and a RANS V-Rex. The 'Rex got sold to buy the parts for my custom-built Strada.
I got my first kilt in time to wear it to the Saturday evening party associated with the Old Kentucky Home Tour, the weekend after Labor Day. If any of you cyclists haven't done this ride, it's a great excuse to come to Kentucky! It's a scenic (moderately hilly) ride with great food stops.
W2F, Rivendell only makes excellent frames-they don't make anything less than excellent. The B-17 is probably the only saddle I would own if I were to spend any real time on a DF bike. 'Bents aren't just for old guys--I've been riding them since my 31st birthday.
Lovin' the breeze 'tween m'knees!

I am Tom, and my screen name, bikeolounger, has been seen in many places on the web. The name comes from my preference for riding recumbent bicycles.
Both the Mrs and I have recumbent trikes. They are wonderful to ride and I now exercise on a recumbent machine. My son also rides to work on a recumbent. They're great for the back.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Excuse me for asking but those who ride these type of bikes kilted, isn't your bum pretty close to the ground? Doesn't the kilt hit the ground or worse can fall into the spokes?

O.K.... now I have an excuse to return to Kentucky. What a treat it would be to do that two-day ride unladen. Two weeks ago I camped overnight in My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown, one day out of Lexington. My route was the less challenging Route 62 (hill-wise, anyway, not traffic-wise) and probably not quite as scenic.
