Did you have to ford the river at all?
The trail crosses back and forth across Oak Creek eight or ten times, which is ok right now, when the river's low. When the water's up, it can get very wet (and cold).

Thanks for the pics.
I'm so used to avoiding "Scottsdale North" that I forget there's beauty in the back country there. Been a few years since I've hiked there. Thanks for the update.

I can, for the most part, do without spending time actually in Sedona. There are a lot of good trails in the area, though.

I lived in a tent on and off for three years on Schnebly Hill in Sedona.. Before you had to buy a pass to park in forrest service land. I love the trails and back woods area's but can do with out the Tourist areas.

Hey Red Raven,
You brought back memories. Back in the late 80s when the men's movement was afire a group of us would go out into the desert and drum together. We'd drum a while, talk a while, drum some more. A guy from Prescott who played the bagpipes and wore a kilt would often join us when we met up his way.
I missed this event but heard about it in detail. A group had gathered at Schnebly Hill to camp out and drum together. The sheriff showed up all lathered and treating them with a bit of disrespect. After they all talked things out it turned out that it was deer season and the sheriff and his boys thought the drummers were anti-hunting protestors. I always thought maybe the kilted guy helped with the "out there" image...
The guys just had no clue. Well, it was funny at the time.
