That's a very beautiful razor - what a find. Good luck on trying it out.

Be forewarned, RAD (razor acquisition disorder), SBAD (shaving brush acquisition disorder), SSAD, (shaving soap acquisition disorder) and SCAD (shaving creme acquisition disorder) are even more more severe than KAD (kilt acquisition disorder). Individual purchases are generally not as painful, but it doesn't take long before you've got the price of a kilt wrapped up in shaving gear.

I'm doing much better this week - I've only purchased a late 40's Gillette Super Speed, a 1954 Super Speed, a 1956 maroon-tip Super Speed and a couple of straights. See, doesn't that show positive signs of AD recovery?

There are actually a lot of good wet shaving resources out there - shavemyface.com, The Shave Den, Badger & Blade and the Straight Razor Place are all pretty active places. And they are all populated with some really friendly gents to boot.

Woh... For some reason, Mike1, that "RAD" kind of sounds scary. Good luck... I think.

    Mike,
I am not positive, but believe the new prize may have a nice history to it. Somewhere deep in the recesses of my ancient brain, I remember reading of an event in Frankfurt am Main that involved a convention of barbers. I believe the souvenir is from that trade show by one of the sponsors, Bagpiper Instruments ca 1967. Very fuzzy on the details.
Congratulations on the new razor. I still use a straight razor and love it.

    Congratulations, Mike. It's pretty!

I still recommend my simple solution to the shaving problem: my face has not known razor for 32.66 years, and has not missed it. Contrary to some reports, a beard does not require more maintenance than shaving. Scrub with wet face-flannel twice daily; trim semi-annually, whether it needs it or not.

If you insist on proceeding, the algorithm is also simple: count your larynx before you begin, and make sure you end up with the same number as when you started. And yes, do try the balloon trick!

Its a thing of beauty. I am doing my damnedest not to google those other forums. I mean I really don't need anything else to eat my time and money...do I?

For a moment went I saw the pic, I wondered if you were going to wear it as a sgian dubh.
