For me, one of the strengths of the photo section were the comments that people could make. I also greatly enjoyed the pictures that people posted.
The new section doesn't seem to have the same things.
James, I've got more than just this photo gallery on my plate. It might be hard to believe, but it's true. I'm doing what I am capable of doing to iron out all the bugs. I deeply apologize for allowing my other obligations to slow my progress. But I am confident that those members willing to demonstrate a modicum of patience will be pleased with the end result.
I guess I will wait for a few days to see how things shake out. But like I said, it would have been nice to have had some discussion about the changes before they were enacted.
This project has been in discussion for months. The script has actually been installed here for 3-4 months, you just couldn't see it. And with it hidden like that, we couldn't adequately test it. We had to bring it into the live forum environment to finish the testing/configuration.

Oh no, I didn't do anything. I make enough mistakes as it is... I do think this will be a good thing and you've got my patients Mike1. I can't even sighn up for photobucket on my own, so I'm happy about this.

BTW, as posted below, I did upload a photo and it all worked well for me.

My main point was and is that we, the members didn't know anything about it untill it was dropped on us. I'm sorry that your plate is full and that you are unable to meet your committments. Rest assured that I, as only one member, do appreciate the efforts made on behalf of X-Marks. I wish you well in your many endeavors, and I hope you prosper with your full plate.
You mention that the project has been in discussion for months - I must have missed that discussion thread. I just did several searches and cannot locate any discussion of this new project.
As I said, it would have been nice to have some advance notice, and I for one, would have been more than happy to assist in testing any new feature before one area is totally shut down and another is opened up.
I like X-Marks! I know of no other similar forum that contains as many knowledgable members as this one does. Additionally the overall general structure of this forum is very nice. Much better than the other kilt related forums that I have found.
Sure - I'll wait. But, let's face it - I have no choice! I will also offer any help that I can give to help test the new feature.
If I can help, please let me know.

I believe that Mods do have their own discussion forums to which the rest of us are not privy - that's pretty standard practice in many similar internet groups James. I should think that this is what Mike is referring to.
And no matter what their individual feelings might be, they have to accept the doctrine of "Cabinet Responsibility." Don't forget either that they are not the Group Owner who is the one who locked the old forum. That's his privilege.
I am sure Mike has many other things he would rather be doing with his time. He is the tech bod upon whose shoulders much is placed. Let's give him space and then see how it pans out and report tech problems as we try out the new facility.

Hey I've just tried the new gallery and it was real easy. Once we can get posting text too it will be really cool I think. Thanks mods for your efforts.

Hmm, on some pics you can add a response, and some you can't. Wonder what that's about? (I also was unsuccessful in trying to move a pic from photobucket, same error msg as others reported) Oh, well. Think I'll wait for the bugs to get worked out before I try again.
Best regards,
Jake

I uploaded a Christmas picture of me opening a Christmas gift while wearing a Buzz Kidder Kilt. I can only go by the information like original file size and so on to know that it is there, but it seemed to work. I will have to wait for you all to tell me if the picture is... not scrambled or something. It's up there though!
When things are seddled in a bit, I do want to know if it is possible to use that pic's address in an IMG tag to post it in threads... No hurry.

I went; I didn't see; I uploaded.
I'm hearing back that it looks fine.

Success
Okay, I too have now successfully uploaded. My first mistake was not to have the uploading photo in JPEG format, it was in ALL.
The second is the size of photo, keeping it below 500 pixels. I upgraded my digital so alot of 800 pixels won't upload. The photos with my previous camera had fewer pixels and will upload. I have now configured my new digital to the 300 pixel mode.
