Yeah, I got my UK Workman's used, and have washed it numerous times in the few years I've owned it. It has faded a bit, but it's been worked pretty hard. I've not had anything happen like OP had. That's odd...

They are just celebrating their 8th anniversary this year, and it took a while for the workmans model to come out so it can't have been quite that long. Still, point taken. I've had mine for about four or five years and it has barely faded.

Thanks again for all the feedback,, its nice to post on a forum where people are helpfull and friendly not " DID YOU SEARCH BEFRORE POSTING!!!!!" I did hear from a guy that's a UK reseller and he said the black and chocolate WMs have very different fade patterens than any of the other UKs. Now having talked about it so much the color is kinda growing on me!!
Thanks again!!

Just like wearing a kilt for the first few times, it grows on you and others too!
Now lets just hope that doesn't happen to a tartan kilt.

You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

It sucks to hear that your kilt's colour faded after one wash. Did you wash it in hot, warm, or cold water?
As a fellow Workman owner, I don't really care that my Black Workman faded. I have mine for a few years and It doesn't look new right now. I don't care whether it looks black or gray because this kilt is designed to look use and beat up. It is not a kilt that I want to look pretty at all time. That being said, i don't really care if the pleats were straight or full of wrinkle. It just add character to the kilt

Same here! I won mine in a Utikilit contest and it has special silkscreening on the apron. I wonder how that will wash??

I've got several UKs, never had any trouble with them fading, I'm sorry to hear that yours has. Definitely take the advice of calling them direct. Their eMail responses are poor at best. If you can talk to them on the phone you can usually get the problem sorted out quickly.
