My aunt just informed me that she has the Aitken crest around her house, she simply needs to find it first.

Think District Tartan for this name. Choosing a district tartan is the best choice for a lot of people. I believe the books I used, both mentioned Perth & Stobo of Peebles. So the Perthshire & Peebles tartan. I suggest choosing the tartan of whatever district you've traced your Rammage ancestors to.

I must once again thank all of you, if it hadnt been for you i would still be in the dark about this, but alas i have hit yet another dead end. The material for making a kilt of any kind is expensive, that i know, but does anyone have any links to an online site where they will have the material for my tartan?

See Sir Daniel's previous post regarding coat-of-arms and the myth of the "family crest".

Hey Ku-Kal, try www.tartenstore.net and search for your Aitken tartan. They have fabric available to order, or check out purchasing a kilt from them. I can't speak for them, I only have 1 kilt and it's from USAKilts. But, at least it's a start.

It's likely that Aitken is a sept of larger clan. I know there is a tartan for Black, but Black is part of McGregor or Lamont (bordering clans, both despise Campbells... long story long forgotten). Tartan for Black is rare, so I just wear McGregor.
