Sport Kilts are great for highland games, IMHO especially if you are competing. They are lightweight and cool enough, and inexpensive enough that you don't have to worry about messing them up as much as you would a more expensive one.
And that Smith tartan does look pretty sharp on their web site! Enjoy.
