Do it! Hopefully you can get them to wear something tastefull, but if not, you at least will be able to show the audience what a kiltie should look like.
Besides, money is money! As Mac said in the new Indy movie: “I'm a capitalist, and they pay.”

Money is money; take the gig. In any event always approach Brigadoon as mere fantasy, not as any sort of history. You'll enjoy it much better that way (same holds true for most movies, too).

When I got out of college, I did dinner theater. Really bad dinner theater. I hated it. I would have much rather been doing Shakespeare. But as was pointed out to me by a long-time company member, "we ALL would rather be doing Shakespeare, but this gig pays."
Taking the gig will yield you more than the paycheck. You never know where connections you make during the run will eventually come back to your benefit.
Besides, having you piping properly kilted will set you far and apart from what's occuring onstage. I guarantee that the audience will notice. "That was a cute show, but that Piper! He was the real deal!"

you will be giving some kids a perspective of music and the world that they may never again have the chance to appreciate.
high quality live music in a public school venue is a very rare thing.
much good karma to ya for it.

Think like a true Scot... Reuse old tea bags and never leave a penny lying in the street. Take the gig, make the best of it.

But shouldn't they be in great kilts?

Gregg,
Your Celtic knowledge, and your skills with the GHB should bring an opportunity for the education of these High Schoolers.
1.) It is a paying gig.
2.) You know how to wear a kilt, and look d@@n sharp in it. It will get interest.
3.) You have the Celtic knowledge to impart.
4.) You will be giving a personal exposure of the Bagpipes to these students.
5.) You have a great communications voice, as we all have heard on WBCR.
6.) You are a very important contact to these students.
7.) The educators, students and parents may be your future network of financial opportunity
8.) Nothing WOWS an audience more than the real deal. A poorly kilted actor walking around with a set of pipes while recorded music is played can not hold a candle to a real professional musician making the finest sounds emit from a real set of Great Highland Bagpipes.
- There are many things we do everyday that do not top the favourites list. But we do them for we see the future benefit. This is one of them.
