I think gunney has not been on C-Rats recently. Haggis is far more appetizing then a box manufactured in 1923.

At least the piper was in tune...but Ermey's uniform is wrong. He has a full-length jacket and no sporran!

Actually, the long jacket was the dress uniform at the time. Nut I do agree with the lack of a sporran...

He forgot to mention modern American (and Canadian, for our friendly neighbors to the north) forces that wear the kilt.

His piper was wearing a leatherneck.

Just to fill in the blank here... The long dress jacket was the "day" wear uniform. The long tail of the jacket removed the need for a sporran, thus making it a casual uniform.

How exactly did the long tail of the uniform eliminate the need for a sporran (unless that tail hid cargo style pockets?). I just do not see a day uniform coat jacket holding the necessary pocket space to eliminate the need for a sporran of any considerable size. Sporrans are simply too utilitarian in nature.

The only Kilts that have eliminated the need for a sporran, are the Utilikilts and similar Cargo / Workmans Style Kilts.
