I think the outfit looks smashing, Glen, and the hose and kilt seem to go well to my eye. There doesn't necessarily have to be red or white in the kilt for red/white diced hose to go well with it, as the Black Watch soliders can prove.

I think those hose would go well with your Graham kilt, as well.

Looks great. I think if the lighting was a little brighter we might be able to see the red better. I think they would also go well with your Dress MacDonald.
I wish I could find sales like that!!

Check out the new Royal Regt of Scotland dress regs. http://www2.army.mod.uk/infantry/reg...s/1c_dress.htm.

Their diced hose don't match either the kilt or the glengarry dicing. So your outfit is equally appropriate.

It's strange, but somehow the diced hose color works well with the Black Watch uniform, but not 100% with your kit (IMO), even though the Royal Navy tartan has the red stripes. Perhaps it's the red sash and hackle in the BW which helps unify.

I’m going to have to go with the "nice diced hose, but not with that outfit" vote.
I can see those hose working well with others of your kilts, but that overall outfit doesn’t seem to mesh.

I love love love diced hose with the doublet and jabot. The colors in the kilt were throwing me a little at first (I'm not sure why, exactly), but I'll go with "it works" anyway because I would personally be a bit disappointed if you weren't wearing diced hose with the rest of the accessories.

Yes, I will definitely have to get my hubby into one of these

Only on XMarks could we debate "do these socks go with this kilt?" for three pages

For me its not the red in the hose that's a problem its the white. If you look at the Royal Regt. photo referenced above You'll see the red of the hose echos in the red of the sash and the dicing on the Glenngarry. The black in the hose echos in the black of the doublet and also the Glengarry and the white appears in the sash and dicing on the glengarry. This repetition leads to a unity.

I love all the pieces of your kit Glen but to my eye they lack unity and balance. Now - I am more than prepared to eat my words if I ever have the pleasure of seeing you in person. It could look very different in the flesh.

In the end, you're always a classy dresser so if you like it - wear it!

    Cheers!

I don't like the outfit at all! I base this solely on the fact you dress better than I do now.

In truth, it is a bold look and you pull it off well Glen. I personally would wear the diced hose with a darker tartan like my Black Watch for even more of a contrast.

    Cheers
