Yes, Hector was used as an English 'equivalent' for Eachdann. I suspect many of the historical Highlanders with the name Hector were actually named Eachdann. It was a common occurrence in those days. (Daniel for Dòmhnall, Ann for Áine, etc.) Incidentally, the actual Gaelic form of Hector is Eachtar (pronounced EKHT-ER). Good luck with the citizenship.
