I am getting married next August (2009) and wearing a kilt. Because I cannot afford to buy, I am hiring 3 adult outfits in the Modern Htg MacGregor (the only tartan I can get via mail order).
My problem is this, my nephew who will be paige boy is 4 years old. No hire company that do mail-order, have the same tartan for hire.
I am trying to find a supplier that hires the tartan or somewhere that sells a childs kilt (poly, wool whatever) but within a reasonable price range (upto £40)
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers
Scotty
Have you thought about contacted any hire shops in Coldstream, Kelso or any of those wee towns along the border? Any friends coming from Scotland might be able to pick the stuff up on the way.... Or if you haven't finalised the mail order, you might be able to get the whole lot from one shop. I make it about 70 miles to the border from sunderland, that about right? You might even be able to get everyone up there for proper fitting.......

From future Aunty Kiltster
Hiya, Scotty! When I came across your post I couldn't believe the similarity in our predicaments. AND the name 'Scotty', AND from ...... Sunderland?! Small world, eh?! Well, at least you can't say I'm not trying! Ha-ha! A note to everyone else - Scott and my niece are getting married next year, and she asked me tonight if I would make a kilt for the littl'un seeing as they can't find one to hire. I've spent an enjoyable few hours picking up loads of ideas and learning that a kilt isn't just a strip of fabric with pleats and straight bits. I'm particularly pleased to have finally found out why they're so swishy! However, I've got lots of questions that I still need to pick the experts' brains about, but it's 2.20 a.m. here in Greece, and so it's off to the land of nod for me. Back asap. Night, Scotty! Night, All! love, Aunty Middle Mir
