I agree, don't go, but your nephew may be disappointed that you weren't there. Send a card apologising for your absence, but explaining that some bigot prevented your attendance, naming no names, of course.

I am with Rocky, suck it up and go and show support. Then, have a talk with him afterward and work it out. Would not surprise me if it's the father that's putting the ideas in his son's head.
