Officiated a wedding in my kilt...some good,-some bad.
So I officiated my cousin's wedding this last Saturday at the beautiful Oregon Coast. I went kilted as I wanted to wear my finest as well as give the ceremony a bit of flair..lol.
Most thought it was great that I wore the kilt. I received many compliments on it. My cousin loved it and the ceremony I performed so I was happy. But for every good moment, you get a bad one it seems. For my uncle ( way too many in him), kept yelling and griping about "his nephew in a dress". I ignored him as he hates scotch and said Guiness was foul sewer water. Others called it a "man skirt". I did my best to remind folk it was a kilt. But they just ignored that and kept rolling with thier jibes.
We went to a local pub and I was approached by a lady who wanted to know how to find her Scottish ancestry. And another woman who worked in the kitchen area came out to say she loved my kilt and was a member of Clan Morrison. We talked Scottish things for a bit and I went back to socializing. Then came in my uncle who berated me for not getting changed out of my queer dress before going out.
Then after a bit came anothe rdrunk who was a friend of the groom. he lifted my kilt up to see what was under and I told him he wasn't my type so leave me alone. You expect that sort of thing from one idiot once in a while. But shortly after, he did it again. I felt the breeze and turned to se ehim there. I grabbed his hand and twisted it, pushed him away (havign lost my temper now) and told him "If you f****** do that once more you are going to be knee deep in floor." Thr groom comes over to apologize, the drunk looks stunned, and then people start to either back me up oir tell me I am asking for it dressing lke that.
I just don't get people. And does anyoen else when wearing the kilt, get asked if they can play the bagpipes? At least 20 people asked me that. Good lord...
Well, the wedding was nice and i got complimented. I even was asked to perform another ceremony ~kilted as well~ and for the most part I had a great time. But man...you just wish you could crack someones nogging sometime.
