Oh Arlen, how awful! Poor Evinrude.
Our pets are intimate parts of our family, and it always a horrible decision to be made, but it is a kindness to them, and would be cruelly selfish to keep them suffering.
I've had to do this many times over the years, and I still break down and cry- stiff upper lip be damned.
Just remember all the great times, and be happy he was with you for as long as he was.
I don't believe for a minute that he would want you to sell stuff, just to keep him dragging along .
I reckon St. Francis has a special play ground for our pets, until we finally come to collect them. (Hey! I never pretended to be a great Theologian, but it's how I feel)
My thoughts are with you & Diane

I'm sorry to hear that Arlen. I lost my cat Trouble last year at this time. He went quickly; I couldn't even get him to the vet, so I didn't have to make that decision.
They really do become family.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your furry friend, Arlen. My wife and I are both fanatical cat lovers and dread the day we lose either of our little ones.

Thank you so much for all the condolences. We are doing O.K. It is sad, but it was for the best.
He will be happy where he is now and we will see him again.

I feel your sorrow, as I had to put my dog beans to sleep on the 27th, after having her since she was 6 months, she was 12 years , and it is a dreadful feeling whether to keep her suffer or let her go.....hope our days get better soon......keep looking back to good days......

Arlen and Calanacrafts, my sympathies go to you both. I can understand your pain as I lost my cat, Cloud, at the age of 19 this past summer due to kidney failure. She required weekly transfusions to keep her kidneys going the last eight months of her life and finally succumbed to a heat wave.
She might have lived a shorter time in human years, but she was a tough cookie even in her old age. When I started to bring in other cats I had rescued from the street, she dominated them right up to the end.
I'm sure that the care you and your wife gave your precious creature let him live a far better life than he might have otherwise known.

I know how you feel. I had to put my cat Prissy to sleep last year about this time and I had her for 18 yrs.
I some times look for her when I come in the front door.

Arlen,
They are truly our only children when our children grow and go. It's so hard to do the kind thing but you did. Be strong, time mends all.
