I am so flippin' busy that I haven't gotten back to it. I think this kilt will be the "longest gestation period" of them all!

Notice the date on the top-level post, here...January 19th, 2009. It' s now May 20-something, 2009. FOUR months.
I'm not done, but whe waistband is done (not the greatest job, I learned something here) and I'm now 2/3rds of the way through the pleat reinforcing hair canvas. There's one more row of stitching to go.
Then, the liner.
Then the buckles and straps and sporran loops
Then re-do some of the pleat stitching that got messed up when I put in the waistband
Then I pin the bedickens out of the pleats and press it semi-lightly...pull the pins, and press it HARD.
And then I decide if I made the thing too long and have to pull the blind stitching on the hem, and re-hem it! LOL

The pleats are ironed in. Except for the waistband in the middle of the back, which might be improve-able with some significant disassembly and re-stitching, this is looking pretty darned good, if a touch long.
The little ugly bits are hidden beneath the belt, anyway, so I'm not stressing about it.
I like this., and for once I didn't make a kilt an inch too small.

First, congrats on the progress!
Then -- I have learned the hard way to pay attention to inside measurement of waist. Even with relatively lightweight material, the buildup of layers as you pleat can subtract a significant measure once you wrap it in a circle. I don't recall seeing this mentioned in TAOK but when I get around to the 16 oz Maple Leaf with full trimmings (hair canvas and lining) you can bet I'll be allowing for close to an inch difference between outer measure and inner measure.

Congrats Alan!
You have waited and toiled for a long time on this one. Today must be a sweet one for you.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear
