    Advice to Alan

The flat cap is a smart and dapper cover to wear with nearly anything. So no arguement here. However................. the cowboy hat with the kilt......okay maybe we'll agree to disagree.

But it's your head and your hat so wear what you like. No use crying over spilt kilt.

I may have to raise the hems on my kilts; it's getting a little deep in here.

Fortunately I'm a big guy and there's enough of me to go around.

At least Jamie has that hat that Jock's so fond of to help conceal some of his mojo. The rest of us are just out of luck.

Just to chime in a bit, the only 2 times I've been out and about in public, I've worn my flatcap... Of course, it's a Saffron kilt, which leans a bit more toward being "Irish" than a Tartan kilt would (please, I don't mean to start up the whole Irish kilt discussion again, just making an observation). I didn't think much of it as any time of the year I'm liable to wake up and find frost on the ground, I'm wearing my flat cap when I'm out of doors. I haven't worn it with my Leatherneck kilt and I'm not sure I would. Frankly, I promised my betrothed that I wouldn't wear that kilt until the wedding, which will be in late May in Las Vegas, and I doubt very much that a wool head covering of any kind will be appropriate.

Part of my problem going into summer is figuring out exactly what type of headwear I'm going to need! I need something, as it was deeply ingrained in me whilst at Parris Island that I MUST wear some type of cover when out of doors. Unfortunately, I don't really see a baseball cap as a 'stylish' cover with a kilt. Of course, I could go without, but since the natural covering of my scalp has become quite a bit less dense than it was, that tends to be a bad idea when it's sunny out if you get my drift.

Easy for you to say Dave, as you are in touch with your inner Latin Lover and have been known to woo ladies on the dance floor as you tango with a rose clenched between your teeth.

I tried that once but it just didn't work

Maybe I should have used a thorn-less rose?

Well, you know what they say . . . if you wear your kilt hem below your knees, you're a damn liar.

I only wear a flat cap when I have a pint in my hand

WOW I seem to wear that hat rather often.
