I have a flannel comfy kilt from Sportkilt that is great for lounging about the house -I wear it most nights. I have slept in it too, sometimes falling asleep on the sofa, other time intentionally in bed. I found that while the comfy kilt is, well "comfy", while walking around and lounging, it is a little too much material to be sleeping in. I find it difficult to turn without the kilt wrapping around me and riding up. In the morning it's all askew. So maybe a flannel kilt with less material would be the way to go. I guess I prefer a long t-shirt for sleeping. On a positive note the flannel adds an extra level of warmth on cold nights in a sleeping bag.

After having very much the same thought of "I hate pants, why should I wear pants to bed?" I briefly experimented with wearing a towel wrap to bed. During the summer I would go to bed without the sheets but put on the towel wrap. It worked okay - it would ride up and twist during the night, but it wasn't really a problem and was easy to fix when I got up. But, it got too hot in the summer for even that, so it remained next to the bed as something that was easy to slip on when I had to get up during the night.
I think pleats are just adding too much to the mix if all you're gonna do is sleep in it and lounge around. BUT, if you're intent on making this a kilt, then you might want to think about using wider pleats (3" ?). Also, fleece might be good for the winter... but summer's just about here, so you might want to think about something that's light and breathable for those hot nights.

I my self hate blankets so I usually only use them in the hottest nights. I was thinking I could wear this instead of using blankets. I got the fleece because I have some fleece pajama pants that I love except for the crotch. Also I found the fleece for 3 dollars a yard. I plan on working on it a bit tonight I will try to take pictures and let you guys know how it goes.

Here is what I got so far. With pictures.

Does anyone know what tartan this is supposed to look like? I am just curious but I think they just made it up.
As you can see the pictures above the plaid is not symmetrical. I measured from one red stripe to the next red stripe and it varied from 6 1/2 to 7 3/4 inches. So that made the pleating a little more difficult.

Well so far I think it will look ok. It will be very hot! I think this one might be my winter lounge kilt. This fleece does not like to pleat so I think I will sew down the pleats it will take a while but I think it is worth it and I need the practice with the sewing machine.

Forget sleeping in kilt and go for nightshirt. Very comfortable.

Fleece is very "stretchy". It'll be hard to sew it. Good luck!

That would be a bit like a leine, and what might have been worn under the belted plaid.

Try a night shirt. Bought a couple in plaid tartan flannel from JC Penny on Internet in flannel. Good length, quality and cost. Saves all the hassle and with a Scottish theme.
Bean may also carry similar.
