And, I'm the guy who still fails to understand why sporran vendors do not include the size of their product in the advertising. Nothing is more important in purchasing a sporran than knowing it's size - will my hand fit in, will it carry my "stuff?" Understand you're a middleman with sporrans...just would be so much more helpful to prospective customers if that basic information were included with the sporran pics. Thanks.
Ron
Thanks, Ron!
I learned my craft from my Grandmother who was a kilt maker for Kinloch Anderson. She taught me and a few of my cousins, but I was the only one that really stuck with it. Having said that, I don't make them exactly the same as she did. I'm left-handed, so that posed some problems at first and I had to adapt my technique. A couple of years ago, I bought Barb's book and changed a few more of my techniques. (Thanks, Barb!) For many years, it was just a hobby, then it became a side-line business, and now (thanks to current economic conditions) it is my full-time job! Which is where I wanted it to go, really, I just needed that extra nudge.
As for the sporrans, I agree, it would be helpful to know the dimensions. I'll ask L&M for them and if they don't bother to tell me then I promise to at least measure each one that goes out my door.

I find myself looking at everything, on the site..its great..I am building a good size wish list...especially the kilt section... the choices are so laid out with styles wool, tartan choices in each style.. ect... very good.. I am very interested in expanding my wardrobe.
I understand the left handed thing... I am a lefty too... and working as an electrician.. I developed my own style to doing things... sometimes I have to slow down and rethink, so I can teach others how to do things.. because they are righties...

Thanks John,
There are so many "ways" of kiltmaking from tailoring to the Traditional and few are catagorized or named...always nice to know where a kiltmaker is coming from and what their training is. Ain't no wrong ways, just different ways.

If the work you put into your site is any indication of the work you put into your kilts, I know that I will eventually have to order one from you. The site was very informative, and I particularly liked the myths and legends section. Also, I believe I will be picking up one of the Rob Roy brown sporrans as soon as my wife isn't concerned about money...

Hello there - another leftie here, I sew my own kilts, and other clothes, and knit hose, and other things, and crochet berets, bags and other things - at the moment the other things are mainly for my hopefully immanent first grandchild.
I hope that you are going to be so busy, and profitable, that you will be able to take on apprentices, to pass on the skills.
Not so busy that you burn out and never want to see another tartan as long as you live.
Take care now.

You have a few things I will need to pick up once my wallet recovers from the last round of kilt additions.
Thanks! The 'kilt queue' is just there so I don't have to deliver disappointing news! It's especially useful when someone has a deadline of some kind like a wedding. No one likes to find out that something will take longer than expected to arrive after they've ordered it.

Lefties Unite!
Like many other things, I had to learn how to sew right-handed. I still favour sewing left-handed and try to do it whenever I can.
