Great pictures as usual Alex. There is something about old busses that bring back childhood memories. Taking the bus from Bristol Centre to Weston-Super-Mare - glorious summer days at the coast and pier. But weren't they cold in winter and draughty.

    Thanks Alex.

    Regards

    Chas

Great photos as usual, Alex. More nostalgia with some of those buses. It was pretty windy on Saturday but I take it there were no problems crossing the Forth Road bridge.

The smell of clouds of diesel fumes from busses idling at the tourist stops. To this day, whenever I smell that, I remember my long summer in the UK so long ago. This then triggers an olfactory memory from inside the bus cabins.

    Rex.

I have a friend who is quite an enthusiast for vintage buses, he drove a bus for the old Glasgow Corporation, and is also interested in trams in fact a fanatic about trams.
He draggged me along to the Bridgeton garage earlier in the year when there was an open day there, fairly interesing. He always wants to vist Lathalmond in Fife
Funnily enough he worked in the Bridgeton garage as a depot inspector and had not returned there until the open day, so he was quite nostalgic about the old place. He is friendly with Brian Longworth, whom I met a few times. If you know Brian, you'll know that he is heavily involved in all modes of former transport throughout the country and is quite an authority on buses, trams and trains etc.
Anyway it was a great day out at the Worlds last Saturday and as you can see from Paul's photos, the weather turned out to be really fine in the afternoon

How were they so draughty yet never managed to let in any fresh air? I suppose it must be some sort of 'bus-magic'.

    Regards

Great photos, love those old "streamlined" designs. Never mind that they only looked the part, I know that new Volvo is the real thing, but which would I rather ride on? (Well, except maybe for that 2 hour trip down the straight highway at 40 mph LOL).

Somewhere I have a film-camera-print of a cool old bus spotted on one of my UK trips, if I ever unearth it I'll scan and post it for your ID.

    Thanks again!
