Hmmm! I read the title wrong! I was imagining a big 2500 with no steps and you have to jump in and out and it was the view of others watching you get in as you climb in and jump out that you were worried about. I was gonna say just do it! Who cares. That's what they get for staring.

I just sweep as I hit the seat like others have said. Never really gave it a thought after the first couple of times. Sometimes when the wife is sitting next to me, I'll let the top bunch up a bit extra too under the guise of it being in the way of my legs reaching the pedals. Just to tease her a bit.

I did that once. My wife took it as an invitation and reached right up my kilt - while I was driving. Dang near had a wreck.

I don't climb in and out of trucks very much (OK, well, never in a kilt as far as I can recall), but I find that if you can swing the hips, sweep the pleats and sit all in one smooth motion, you have a better chance of not getting your kilt in a bunch. But my favorite advice given on this topic came from someone who said not to worry about it all that much, since to worry and fuss about it would not be manly.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I wore a kilt w/ my '95 Ford F150 which had cloth seats and when I got in I'd use a belt from an old bathrobe to smoothe out the pleats. After getting in sideways and a short sweep of the pleats I'd put the belt behind me and slowly pull the belt forward while lifting my butt off the seat. It did such a great job of smoothing out the pleats that I now use the same bathrobe belt in my SUV w/ leather seats, and then stash the belt in the console between the seats. For me, this method not only keeps the pleats nice but also keeps them from bunching up.

After the slap it dawned on me you weren't suggesting I assist her.

Actually, my wife gets quite a chuckle watching me ascend to and descend from the driver's seat. I'll catch on sooner or later.

The sweep and tuck that Ham has as a sticky can apply to a vehicle.

It works for me in my Toyota and my wife's Subaru.
