The soccer socks I think are going to be my main choice for now, they run about $4 a pair, and come in all the colors I could want to match any of my sports teams kilts that I am making.

That will fit nicely with the look of your kilt!

In the spring, be alert for sales on ski socks, tall hiking socks, and such.

I wear lovat green hose with red flashes, and they really don't look dressy.

However, when hiking, I have worn knee high boot socks to great effect. They look like kilt hose, but they're not wool. They would probably do very well with sock liners.

That's a great idea, my girlfriend is starting to learn how to knit, so I may be able to get her to make me some, if she get's any good.

W. Brewin & co. Kilt hose for under 10 bucks, take advantage of their bulk sale and get a different colour for the day of the week. Pleanty warm enough in the mild Canadian winters, double them up for colder. Even a contemperary kilt can use more traditional hose.

I defiantly will be picking up some kilt hose, once I get a solid income. But after becoming disabled in March, and not receiving any money since April, other then student loans, $10 is out of my budget, but I did order a few pairs of soccer socks at $4 a pair, that will be close to all the colors I am making for my contemporary Kilts.

Good luck to you on that My fiancée has been knitting for years, but she still isn't up to the challenge of knitting me some kilt socks! Of course, she might just be using the "complexity" as an excuse not to feed my kilting habit. She might see herself as an enabler. Like she can really complain; she's addicted to knitting wooly things, I'm just giving her an outlet! At least that's my argument...
