I'm not a massive fan of brogues which I find a bit too fussy for my personal tastes so I wear these at formal occasions

I just find them to be clean, smart and still very in keeping with the rest of my outfit (Black Country tartan, Sheriffmuir jacket, white sporran with plain cantle).

Best thing is to probably try a few different styles and combinations of outfit to find something that works. Hope that helps and good luck!

I think boots can look good with a kilt, but there are boots, and then there are boots!

I am assuming that your outfit will be as dressy or as casual as what the bride wears. Your boots should not distract from your outfit, or the bride's outfit. Wearing tennis shoes with a tux was considered cute for a while in Hollywood, but it never really looked good. Pick boots that match the look you and the bride are going for.

These are the boots I wear with my kilt. They hold a mirror like shine. http://apps.hhbrown.com/HHBImages/WE.../Cove/1525.jpg

I think it depends on what else you are wearing with your kilt.

If you are formal... go for a formal shoe either Ghillie Brogues or classic black brogues.
DMs too can look ok and are a good general shoe to wear with anything.
Ig you are more casual go for a boot!

Alot depends on the bridal wear.
I have seen some strange combinations of formal brides in white and lace with full trains and the groom in a simple jacket... chalk and cheese!

There's been some really good advice on here so far so I won't reiterate too much.

Ghillie brogues (The ones that lace around your legs) are a relatively modern thing that rental shops boosted a lot. Most of us on here aren't fans.

Regular brogues (Oxfords, wingtips etc) we do like and those always look good at a wedding so long as they are nicely polished.
Likewise smart buckle shoes of any kind. (I wore the ones similar to these to my wedding.)

There is also the option of old fashioned boots. These are all smart and with a good polish would be O.K at almost any wedding.

    Good luck.

A good pair of black, low quarter, dress shoes, either wingtip or oxford would be a good bet I think. This would also lower the chances of "wedding party fashion clashes". LOL. Trust me, I've seen it.

I guess i'm just looking for some advice

Don't do it! Run, far and fast! You still have time. !!!!!!!!

Just kidding. Wear a nice pair of dress shoes, but don't let anyone near them until after the wedding. Some clown may write something on the soles.

Best of Luck to you and your intended. Joan and I celebrate 25 years this june. And I still have the shoes I got married in.

I think it would depend on how formal the bride is going to be, and is anyone else wearing a kilt?
