Well, if it's any consolation, I only have 7 pair. So you definitely left me in the dirt.

Wow, I thought I had a lot of hose. I doubt I have more than you, though. One reason I keep from drowning in hose and other kilt accessories is that I periodically sell or give away items that don't see much use any longer. Even still, I have plenty to get me through the work week. :-)

And a mighty fine pair of hose they are. With the addition of that pair you gave me, my official inventory count comes to roughly one pair.

Since you have more than one pair of castellated, I'll consider you surpassing me NorCalPiper.

I doubt I have 39 Josh, or 50 Glenn, but my hose collection has taken on a life of its own as of late, with two recent additions just in the last two weeks, two more due this coming week (along with a new kilt), and another two due the week after that, with others I have eyes on right now on ebay (was seriously considering your weathered argylls Josh but see they sold last night). Although I have not counted I would estimate somewhere in the mid to upper 20s at this time. But now that you mention it I must do a more thorough accounting and organization, as it seems I can never quickly find the pair I am looking for amongst the crowded Rubbermaid Tote box I store them in.
Tough to organize them as some are simple solid, some are solid with Lewis or piper tops, some are solid but custom knit patterned, others solid with either argyll or other patterned top, and a few are argyle or diced (more coming). I think I found the best way was to put them in vertically with the toe end at the bottom and the tops showing at the top of the pile, since the tops are usually what I use to decide which to wear with what kilt on any given day. It has gotten to the point now that many different hose go with many different kilts adding new options and variety to the mix. But it does take up space in the closet.

Yes I think you ARE the King of Kilt Hose!
All those diced and tartan hose, and the castellated hose, put you in another category.
I've got one pair of bespkoke tartan hose, two or three pair of diced hosetops, and a bunch of plain hose, pathetic in comparison to your collection.
I did have four or five antique horsehair sporrans though...till I started selling some off on Ebay. I don't know why but I have sort of a fixation on old horsehair sporrans.

I can't imagine STORING that many! A pair of kilt hose seems to take up at least twice the space of my average sock. I can't imagine what i would do with 50. They'd have to have their own dresser!

Josh, you've got my vote for Kilt Hose Emperor!
