Terry, as one who, four years ago, was in a similar position to the one your father is in right now, I send him and you nothing but good vibes and positive thoughts. I did not have the chemo but have been, and still am, on regular hormone implants to keep the aggresive tumour under control.
Best wishes, and
Take care,
Ham.

Thank you Hamish, that truly means a great deal to me. He begins the chemo & hormone therapy at the end of this month.

Update
I just wanted to give a quick update on my Dad.
He began chemo a couple of weeks ago. Due to distance I don't have a lot of contact with him, but my sister keeps me updated.
The good news is that there has been apparently a change in the status of his cancer. When first discovered the doc' said it was a very aggressive stage 3. While undergoing the chemo' treatment they have now said that it actually a stage 1 & very treatable!
Needless to say we couldn't be more pleased
Thank you again everyone for your well wishes, healing thoughts, & prayers.
I know my Dad was very touched when I told him about all the great messages from my kilted friends from across the globe

It appears that the prayers, good wishes, or whatever your own tradition calls them are working. Hopefully by wearing kilts we all become inbued with great power.

This is excellent, cheering news - thanks for passing it on. We will continue thinking healthy thoughts on his behalf, and yours.

Update From Dad:
For Father's Day I received an update from my Dad on his cancer treatment.
In his words: "I finished my 8 1/2 weeks radiation treatments this morning. I feel fine. Now to start hormone shots in about 30 days. Will know how well treatments went in about 6 weeks."
Thanks everyone, keep up those positive thoughts & prayers!

Outstanding news! That is likely one of the best Father's Day gifts for both of you!
I will keep you all in my thoughts.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Hi, Terry – having had a bout with prostate cancer two years ago, I have all the sympathy in the world for your dad.
I was fortunate (blessed) to avoid all chemotherapy. The urologist said it was in a very early stage, and decided on a radical prostatectomy.
It was painful after the operation, and I had to go back to hospital three times to have my bladder unblocked (because of unexpected complications), but I am so grateful that I am entirely clear of the cancer.
Thank you also for the update on your dad’s treatment. This really is heartening news.
May he go from strength to strength.
Regards,
Mike
