Perhaps we should start up a collection, purchase the kilt and have one of our resident kiltmakers save it from those ties.

I think the humane and decent approach is to purchase it, give it a nice dousing with Scotch (a cheap blend in a gallon jug would be appropriate) and adminster a proper funeral pyre.; with a proper dram of single-malt raised to the original kilt and it's honour.

You know guys, the more I look at this kilt the more I........... dislike it (because hate is such a strong word)!

I'm all for creativity, but I think it may be time for them to find a new niche....

He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.

    I like it!

I applaud both the intention and the execution of this garment. I like that the contrast fabric clashes somewhat and love that it came from old ties. I especially like that it looks like the contrast fabric is nestled quite deep into the pleats. Like that you would only get flashes of it as they move.

I've been doing some experimenting with contrasting pleat backs myself recently: doing the whole of the back of the pleat seems too much and has the issue of the join in fabric being on the edge of the pleat ... especially messy at the sewn down end. In fact I had quite given up on using contrast fabric in knife pleats in favour of using it on the back of box pleats instead. This pic will give me more food for thought ... thanks!

    Richard.
