    Dale:

Our Dads would have been the same age and I am sure could have shared many of the same experiences, whether tromping through the snow in Europe in WWII or holding their first grandchild. I feel your pain. You'll think of him everyday and talk to him quite often. God be good to him.

Dale, I lost my dad 1 1/2 year ago, he also tromped through the snow. I miss him very much, it does get better with time. I'm very sorry.

I know how this feels. Not a week goes by when I don't miss my dad.

you and I are lucky, my friend. Our fathers were our heros. We are proud to be our fathers sons.

....I know more than one guy who wishes he could say the same thing.

I am sorry for your loss. My father died 14 years ago, I still miss him at times. At times I hear him in the words I use, and my laugh reminds me of him. The influence of our fathers is sometimes greater then we can even imagine.

My condolences. It's never easy losing a parent. I lost my da at age 12, and think about him often. I wish he could have gotten to see me grow up, get married and have kids. At least your dad got to see you flourish. Be strong!

Condolences to you and your family.

My deepest sympathies for you at this time, I lost my grandmother in '01, she was like a 2nd mother to me, and still miss her terribly, she also was in WW2, was shipped from Czechoslovakia to Germany when Hitler invaded....May you always enjoy the memories of times and stories he shared with you.

My sincere condolences Dale on the passing of your Dad. You & yours are in my prayers.

My own Dad (who I haven't been close to until recently) is currently putting up a valorous fight against prostate cancer.

My Grandfather, who was my father figure most of my life, passed on 3 years ago. I miss him every day (I was recently reminded that I inherited a lot of his mannerisms etc ).

    Stay strong.

When I think of my departed Mum and my frail old Dad, this Luther Vandross song makes me hope their future will be something like this and it reminds me of how things used to be (this song reduces me to tears, even when it comes on the car radio):-

Back when I was a child
Before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother and me and then

Spin me around till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
    And I knew for sure
    I was loved

If I could get another chance
Another walk, another dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
How I’d love, love, love to dance with my father again

    Ooh, ooh

When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way I would run from her to him
He’d make me laugh just to comfort me, yeah, yeah
Then finally make me do just what my mama said

Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
    Never dreamed that he
    Would be gone from me

If I could steal one final glance
One final step, one final dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
‘Cause I’d love, love, love to dance with my father
    again

Sometimes I’d listen outside her door
And I’d hear her, mama cryin’ for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me

I know I’m prayin’ for much too much
But could You send back the only man she loved
I know You don’t do it usually
But Lord, she’s dyin’ to dance with my father again
    Every night I fall asleep
And this is all I ever dream

Oh dear, even reading the words now, I am quietly weeping. I wish they could hug me now.
