Have a look at http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar...s.aspx?ref=627
The notes read: “Designed by Phil Smith in 1995, this was the winning design of 12 entries for a tartan to be presented to the Cherokee tribe (Echota and Chickamauga are alternative names the tribe uses) by Scottish Heritage USA at Grandfather Mountain Games 1996.”
Of course, this does not state that it was presented, nor that it was accepted, but it is on the register.

Mike
Well, I'll be...you learn something new everyday -- many thanks, Mike, for bringing this to my attention. I have a good friend with documented Cherokee ancestry, and I know she'll be excited to see this!

Indeed Todd, I had no idea!!
Thanks Mike! ![Very Happy](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Now the question: has this tartan been woven, or is it a special weave.
At any rate this might have some real appeal to my son.
Thanks again!

With the strides in medicine & science, it could (hopefully) happen one day Alex. I hope & pray it does, I have a few friends on this side of the pond that have loved ones also suffering from the same condition.

Welcome to the world Koda!!!
Well, as usual I'm the last to know {sigh}....but I'm happy to announce that almost exactly 24 hrs ago (1:30 am to be exact) my grandson Koda entered this world weighing in at 7lbs. 9oz! I hear that mother & the wee bairn are doing well.
Hopefully they will visit for Christmas and I'll get to hold the wee lad, while wearing my (soon to be made) Macdonnell of Keppoch Newsome box pleat! ![Wink](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Congratulations on being a Grandad ![Dance](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/dance.gif)
The good thing about being a grandfather, (or uncle in my case) is that you get to have all the fun then give them back at the end
