Some great pictures there, and thanks for the bit of video, too.

    You beat me to it!
I recognised them by their jackets (SA Army tunic) and the shields on their upper arms.
The green headgear looks suspiciously like an ordinary SA Infantry Corps beret, but I may be mistaken – perhaps it is a caubeen. At least they are wearing hackles on them.
    Regards,

Yes indeed what a difference! The pipe band of one Highland battalion only, the Black Watch.

Less than ten years ago at one Tattoo were the pipe bands of two Guards regiments and six Scottish regiments:

    The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
    The Scots Guards
    The Royal Scots
    The Royal Highland Fusiliers
    The King's Own Scottish Borderers
    The Black Watch
    The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders
The Highlanders (Seaforths, Gordons, and Camerons)

    plus several overseas pipe bands

    The South African Irish Regiment
The Rats Of Tobruk (a civilian band I believe)
    unidentified Canadian military pipe band
    unidentified civilian pipe band
    unidentified Irish pipe band
    Gurkha pipe band

14 pipe bands in all that I can see from photos.

Shamefully, I've never been to the tattoo yet. Enjoyed your photos though.

    Tattoo

Smashing photos, I have added a couple of mine, our Granddaughter is a Piper in the 19th Regiment Royal Artillery (The Highland Gunners). She played at the Tattoo, and her Band was due to play at the Braemar Games tomorrow, but the Regiment has pulled them back to Camp. I'm not sure why, but I know they were in training for deployment to Afghanistan.
The first picture is of her and my wife Dee, The 19th wears the Hunting Robertson Tartan, and Dee's skirt is in the Ancient Urquhart variant of our Clan Tartan.
