Alex.....I live not far from Union Bridge, Maryland, one time home of the Western Maryland Railroad Co. Most of the original buildings are gone, but the station and office building are still standing and house the museum and archives of the Western Maryland Railway Historical Society. I was a member there for a couple of years and still have friends that are active. They own a couple of pieces of rolling stock that are original to the company, but they are positioned on sidings away from the station. The society is waiting for the Maryland Midland (the current operator of the line) to construct a switch to the siding nest to the office building that will be a display track for a boxcar, gondola, hopper and a caboose. One of the original Alco engines, FA-2 #302 is being prepared for display at a site in West Virginia. The museum has quite a few artifacts from the railroad. It also has an extensive collection of maps and drwings of right of ways. If you ever make it to this area, let me know in advance and I may be able to set up a tour for you. the museum is only open to public on Sundays, from noon to three pm. It is staffed by volunteers. I will try to post some pictures.
