I don't see how you could have dealt with the situation any better, especially being blindsided like that.

In a very limited attention span you got your point across. And even better, you know that there were a bunch of adults listening in who also got an education about the kilt!

There've been a couple of times he's mentioned something that I told him several years earlier. At the time, he didn't seem to make the connection to the conversation. That's the way it goes...

Probably getting a bit off topic, but in my personal experience, nearly everything heard is filed away somewhere between the ears, and may simply not be processed until something actually triggers it.

And, seperately, I do frequently fail to see why society is so illogical.
