No pants in August would make some sense, but Chicago in January is just nuts.

Glasgow has a subway, although small and with only, I think 15 stations, one pastime that happens on it every weekend, is the pub crawl, in which groups of people get off at each station, get a drink in the nearest pub and head back on the subway to the next station - you can imagine that if this completed then these individuals won't be too sober.

But the important issue here is, would it be possible for the Glasgow Subway to have a 'No Pants' day? certainly Glasgow University with its diversity of students contribute greatly to the running of the subway and its possibly from here that a 'No Pants' day may originate.
Do we have any students from the Glasgow Universities and Colleges on X-Marks who may want to get involved here?

I suppose it IS a different world. But not that different. I know I would be very surprised to see folks in their skivvies outside in the middle of January.

    The mind boggles!
I have a measure of respect for the naked rambler, because he promotes non-sexual nudity (even if he is constantly arrested for so-called indecency).
But No Pants day strikes me as a total waste of time.
Wearing a kilt (with or without underwear) beats No Pants Day hollow at any time.
And of course being regimental is the best way to wear the kilt.
    Regards,
    Mike

Last year (2010) at the annual NYC no pant's subway ride, there was a guy set up at the end of the ride with a table giving out a free pants survey, to see if pants were right for you. This was more or less based on the tables that the Church of Scientology sets up in the subway system to recruit new members. On the pants survey a couple of the questions were kilt related.

I had briefly toyed with the idea of trying to get a few of us kilties together to protest this survey. Making loud claims that pants were a cult and that people should free themselves from pants. However there was no way of knowing if the survey tables would be part of the 2011 ride or not and without it the idea just isn't as funny.

I mean you have all the folks in their underwear acting as if it is the normal thing to do. Then you have a guy trying to convert them to pants, but in the process besmirching kilts. Then you have people trying to save them from this evil pants cult. To me that just sounded fun.

Oh and as for NYC having different laws...There is no law requiring a shirt to be worn in the subway system. A few years ago some women staged a protest that involved riding the subway topless and trying to get arrested for indecency so that they could sue for discrimination. It apparently worked, because although you never see it happening, it is perfectly legal for a woman to ride the subway topless.

you are so right, wearing the kilt with underwear lessens the sensational of the swing, swirl and freedom that the kilt offers. This is the reason we want to wear a kilt because of what it offers as opposed to pants. Of course being naked underneath has its drawbacks and at times limits the range of kilt wearing, I would'nt want to wear the kilt in a construction site, that would be inappropriate, even with pants underneath. Here i think we would be brought down to the level that women have to go through when the wind blows up their skirt, something I would not want to go through. Its just natural to stare whatever sex you are when some kilt wearer shows too much flesh
