World War II Vet Learns He's Not a U.S. Citizen

My current academic unit hired a young new professor from the USA last year and only discovered when trying to file the Canada Immigration paperwork that he was not a US citizen; he had no idea. Raised in Alaska, but actually born in Canada's Yukon Territory, and thus Canadian.

I have an English friend who lives for 6 months of the year in The Gambia and had a son with a Gambian girl. He had to apply for a Gambian passport for his newborn but on arriving in England he got him a British Passport. When going back to Gambia he handed over the boy's British passport but when it was stamped as a visitor with only 28 days visit he queried it and the passed over the Gambian passport to gain entry on a long term basis. This was duly stamped correctly.

Through a family web site I set up I found a cousin living in the USA. He told me that due to the work he did in the US he had to become a US citizen taking away his true nationality. He still speaks with a very broad Scottish accent however.

Life is so confusing .......
