Wow. Thank you people. For starting this and also for the additional contributions. What a legend!

People have mentioned the sporrans. I especially like the first one. Again, just a wee bit different to the normal dress sporrans that are (and were) so common.

    Cheers,

    Michael

I know one who can make such an endeavor happen, and might just have to make himself a pair of them.

My wife is seriously interested in making a pair of these vertical stripe hose. My inclination would be to have the pattern continue on the cuff to line up with the sock, but in the photo the lines of the cuff appear to be offset. Does anyone have a better photo showing these socks?

Not only offset, but a different arrangement of stripes and widths on the cuff vs the body -- wow!

I think the 'diced' tops might be entrelac - that has the squares knitted at different angles and they are done on the diagonal with the edge picked up to start the next one around.

It is one way to make a wider cuff on the same number of stitches as the leg - in fact it is a bit of a whatsit to stop it becoming too large and it has to be done on small needles.

Somewhere I have the start of an entrelac jersey which would fit the incredible hulk due to my starting out with the same number of stitches as a straight knitted garment.

The hose on the left look very much like the striped regimental neckties- in fact, they appear to be in the very colours of the necktie of The Cameron Highlanders (Google "cameron highlanders necktie" and you'll see).
