Last weekend, Cynthia and I went to an antique show near Dallas, Tx. People typically dress up in vintage clothing, and this year, Cynthia wore a replica Victorian gown she made. I had to at least wear something special...so I wore the kilt:

As always, Cynthia looked lovely. (So lovely, in fact, that I clearly need to dress up a bit more next time!):

We met up with some friends:

I think what Cynthia and I loved best was we weren't viewed as being in costume. All the older men and women at the antique show complimented us and thanked us for dressing up. (Another reason why I'll do better justice to the kilt the next time we go, because I wasn't particularly dressed up.) It was nice being around people who really appreciated the kilt.

And speaking of kilts, we saw this at one of the booths at the show. Of course, we had to take a photo for XMTS

Some of the other highlights:
  • The woman who recognized the tartan from a distance and was very pleased to see somebody wearing a kilt.
  • The man who told me I was "a brave man," for wearing the kilt in public.
  • The woman who appreciated the kilt, but was sad to see I didn't have a sgian dubh. (I really need to remedy that, too.)

It was a nice outing; something I look forward to doing again!
