Who plays in a Band? Post yer site?

I was both a piper and drummer for the Ulster Pipe Band of New York, many years ago. We played at the premier of "Zulu", when it first came out.

Has everything! Except kilts!

Two good friends play in the Castlemaine Highland Pipe Band. Not a competition band but highly sought after for ceremonial duties. On the weekend of 29 October they are due to do a play out in their new uniforms. The first since the 1950's. Their original kilts were made from tartan woven at the Castlemaine woollen mill.

I take my drum and join the band for various morris dancing sides.

The border sides are 'Herbaceous' - that is Herbaceous Border - sigh, - and we get called the Hosepipe Banned - they like their little joke, and I also turn up for Wild Thyme - yes, I know, and there is the Cotswold side, Motley Morris.

For some reason all the photos taken are of the dancers - its the sticks, flowers, feathers and rags plus the rather wild action which get all the attention.
