To my knowledge I have no blood relations to the MacDonald Clan. "Blaylock" is a family of Clan Douglas (at least that is what is generally believed).

So, when I wear my Clan MacDonald kilt, I am prepared to tell anyone who asks that I am commemorating the alliance between Angus Og and Robert the Bruce. But, nobody has ever asked and no one is ever likely to ask.

The only place I would not wear the MacDonald, is at a MacDonald gathering, where it might hurt someone's feelings or needlessly rile someone up. Instead, I would wear my Campbell kilt.

Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts and to the world of wearing the kilt. It is not a costume nor, in my opinion, an anachronism. It is experiencing a resurgence because more like you and I are wearing it. The more we do the more others will. Great.
