Re: (blog) PULLTEETH TUESDAY: Men in Kilts

Hey, I don't have a problem with what they're wearing. It's just that the guy who writes that blog writes stuff like...

"This is the look I'm trying to channel right now with my style."

That pretty much ends the discussion for me! ?

If he wants to layer a kilt over a pair of pants, that's his business. I wouldn't do it, but then I have other things to do in my life than worry about my personal style and who I'm channelling.

As for the "traditional" guys not liking it.... Dudes, you have a forum entirely devoted to "traditional". Why don't you go post there and leave this alone? We already know that you HATE HATE HATE everything in here, why beat it into the ground yet again? How many times does this have to be said? I don't go into the traditional forum and tell you all that you're stuffy and boring and that I hate your stupid tweed argyll jacket. If you don't like what you see in here then stay OUT.

Re: (blog) PULLTEETH TUESDAY: Men in Kilts

As a complete aside, I sometimes wear long underwear tights under my kilt, when I'm throwing and it's bluidy cold. I pull up loose-fitting athletic rugby/soccer sox over the tights, and also pull a pair of foam Ace or Rehband knee warmers/supports over it all..

Oh, you all say...but if I wore a traditional wool kilt I'd be warm.

Bollocks. ...I treasure my knees. YOU go throw with bare knees in freezing wind. I'll wear the tights. And if you think I'm a freak for doing so, then go look up pictures of SCOTTISH Highland Athletes like Sinclair Patience, Craig Sinclair and Gregor Edmonds.

Yeah, sorry about that Alan - I always pick my threads off the "New Postings" search, and I missed that this was contemporary. You're right, not my thing, but then I do like a few of the more contemporary looks... just not this one!

If you sometimes have positive things to say about stuff in here, but just don't happen to like THIS one, then fine. No problem. I'm just a bit annoyed at the guys who KNOW they don't like contemporary kilts, have SAID SO many times, and STILL feel the need to march in here and make comments.

I don't march into the "Traditional Kilts" forum and make snide remarks, and neither do most of the guys who post in here semi-regularly. It's not THAT hard for more traditional guys to do the same thing in regards to this forum.
Nah, I like some of the contemporary kilts, depending on the colours and materials. Not big on leather or denim, although black looks better to me than blue; love hemp and tan canvas; have considered one of Robert's for myself; not big on nuts and bolts, studs or grommets, and the idea of combining pants and kilts just looks totally weird and counter-productive to me. I like 'em best with long sox, but they don't have to be traditional "kilt hose" to keep me happy. Don't much like sandals, but I know that a lot of our guys are working in pretty hot climates, so I sure understand the choice!

I try to keep an open mind without my brain floating out the hole, and I love the spirited discussions, but I will make some more effort to note which forum I'm blundering into, and sure understand your frustration.
