I'm sure a bow tie would look quite nice but i'm inclined to think that would be more appropriate for the older demographic !! LOL
I'm only 30.

Yeah, brown is not an overly popular colour for hose. But House of Cheviot makes several shades of brown hose, and in several different styles. Their "dark natural" colour is my absolute favourite, and it goes with virtually everything, even if it doesn't "match" anything!

Au contraire! 30 is the perfect age for wearing a bow tie.

Um, really? My sons, aged 20 and 18, wear bow ties most of them time when wearing a coat and tie. They have for years. You people in Montreal don't get out much: bow ties are VERY POPULAR among college students and young men here in the USA.

I wear them too occassionally. I have done so since my early twenties and I am now 30 . But of course, I am indeed a "preppy," always have been. Bow ties, especially in the repp style, have made a huge ("Ivy league/preppy" look) comeback amongst teens, young adults, and mature adults.
Cheers,

Sure, if you're talking about a bright paisley or polka dot silk number, but in this context I believe a formal black bow tie would be quite appropriate and not the least bit curmudgeonly, even for a youngster like yourself.

Strange - different countries, different customs. I would never consider a black tie (bow or otherwise) for a wedding. I have three silver or silver grey ties, one of those would be the tie I would wear to the event.

I agree, Chas. Silver would be very nice and quite appropriate also. My point was that a bow tie is not strictly for senior citizens.

I agree 100%. Especially paired with a waistcoat.

I have been fortunate never to have seen a black bow tie worn during the day, except by servants. It's just one of those things that just isn't done. Black four-in-hand ties, black string ties-- yes, but save the black bow ties for evening dress.

Found this brown for hose. Quite like it actually with red flashes might look really good.
