Me too Kyle. Hopefully will get further response from them on Monday .

Steve I also thought that Cairngorm = windowpane and Cheviot= plain . However checking out the Harris tweed shop on line does show that there are some Cheviot windowpane fabrics.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing but I guess the fabric Tartan4less offers is Cheviot Loden crag.
16 oz. not 10 oz. as I was told by the assistant.

@creagdubh: thought your avatar was a picture of yours...now I realize you are the guy I admired all the last month wearing these splendid Macpherson kilts and knowing Sir William personally...

    An extra "Hi" :-)

    Moin Tom,

neat, we have a pipe smoker Stammtisch in Mainz every first Wednesday in the month. The "Mainzer Pfeifencolleg" meets at 19:30 in the Klingelbeutel, Kartäuserstraße 6. And: they have Guinness from tap!

    Next date: August 1st.

Currently we are 3 kilties (here's the thread with a picture http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...ing-pub-73261/ )

    New participants are always welcome.
BTW, there is a social group for pipe smokers here on Xmarks.

Haha, cheers Tom! Thanks for your kind words, mate. The avatar is actually of the fictional character, Hector Naismith Macdonald from the BBC series, "Monarch of the Glen," which is one of my favourite shows of all time. I also particularly enjoyed the character of Hector.

    Cheers,

Have just had an email from Tartan4less and they have confirmed that it is 16oz cloth. Must say that I am impressed with their customer service so far. Replies to emails have been very prompt.

If only I had read this before yesterday as I had samples of Cheviot and Cairngorm with me at Harpenden!

I got a message too this morning... it's 16 oz. Yes, very impressing service.
I asked if it's Cairngorm or Cheviot...
And then i am off for holidays in Florence.

    See you Tom

Paul I did look in the books and saw the samples. The query was regarding the weight of the cloth because initially they told Pipersson that it was 10oz and I thought that was strange because Cairngorm & Cheviot are both 16oz so we tried to seek clarification from them. They have confirmed that it is indeed 16 and not 10oz as they originally stated.
