I, too, am a fan of picture posts. I do not do them very much BECAUSE they take so much effort to construct. So, I certainly appreciate the effort that goes into them.

I say keep the pictures coming...from anyone and anywhere. It is nice too see what others do when wearing their kilts.

A picture is worth a thousand words, eh?

I think pictures of all types are the lifeblood of the forum, whether that be action shots "in the wild," pics of kit, or historical/vintage images.

Sometimes people post pics just to share them, which I always appreciate; the more pics the better!

When someone is sharing and not asking for comments/criticism though, it would be nice to have a "like" feature so I can show my appreciation. Otherwise, I have to type something nice, then be auto-subscribed to a thread that isn't going to generate much discussion, and finally have to unsubscribe so my notifications window isn't clogged with more appreciative platitudes

I also like it when people stick their neck out and ask for comments and/or criticism.

This often provides not only food for thought, but also for discussion. The longer a forum (and its members) are around, the more difficult it becomes to find new topics -- or even new angles on old topics. Pictures give us a constant stream of specific examples to spur more discussion. It also helps us to avoid becoming mired in the abstractions inherent in generalization or being tempted to go too far off topic.

    John,

The old adage that you cannot please all of the people all of the time should not make you desist from the photographic feast with which you regale us.

It's clear that most folk think thee pics are right champion lad.

Sort of weird for me to respond to this thread, as I really do enjoy them, yet I do not post them because I do not have any to share, so I am at the mercy of others who do.

One part of me says to post and the other part of me says enjoy the Kilted life instead of spectate. I know it is just me.

I think I'm somewhere between answers 1 and 2. I enjoy the picture threads (and that is one forum I check every day just to see what is posted). Having said that, once it a while I do ask myself; "What is the purpose of that thread?"
Keep posting the pictures, I have enjoyed most of yours.

I am firmly in camp #1. I enjoy the picture threads the most it seems. It doesn't matter to me where the kilt in question is worn. So McDonald's or Highland Games, bring it on. I do get a little annoyed with pictures reposted on comments, unless its deliberately reposted as relevant to the comment. But I can live with that.

While its true we don't post pictures of going places in our trousers, but then, this isn't a trouser forum.

When I first started wearing a kilt in my everyday life, I found it a little daunting. The pics that I saw of people doing everyday things in their kilts made me far more relaxed about it, and the result was I probably wore it with more confidence.

I do appreciate the time and effort that goes into getting these pics posted. I am very grateful that folks make that effort to do this.

Please, as a personal request, don't stop posting pics.

    you are Ace.

as for pic threads in gneral: mostly 1, sometimes 2. the many different looks, activities and interests put forth the rabble make this a very interesting place. the pics encourage me to go out and about more often and to try new things.

i do not mind criticism and discussion at all, since i want to learn. as brilliant as i might think i am at times, i also know that i am 99% chimp.

Check out the earth shattering thread entitled, "*** Help". It's a tight twisting thread, but should only produce mild nausea, if you don't take it too seriously.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

John, love the photo essays mate. I find yours particually enjoyable as as I think you go that extra bit to put some thought into the comments. Alex always does a class act also. I really appreciate those that take the time to tell us where they are, a bit about the subject, and who's who.

To all those who get bored or don't like the photo essays, don't read the thread. It's just like switching over to another TV station if you don't like the show that's on. A really simple solution.
