I think the shirt looks fine with that kilt. It's a nice subdued pattern that doesn't clash. Wearing patterned shirts with a tartan kilt is a bit of an art form sometimes.

As to the pleating, I also think it's fine. I think we sometimes tend to get a little too wrapped up in the details of our kilts, especially with the pleating. But many true Scottish-made kilts are pleated to nothing at all, which is to say that they are just pleated without any consideration for how the tartan sett ends up being exposed. Granted, pleating to the "random" is seen less and less these days, but it's still perfectly acceptable. So yours looks fine to me, considering that it at least has some pattern to it, even though it's neither pleated to the sett nor the line.

Don't worry so much! You look great and no one is going to care about the pattern in the pleats.

    Your kilt looks fine, congratulations.
I see you are in Darmstadt. Great location for attending many fine Highland Games in http://www.bagev.de/index.php?option...emid=88Germany. I lived there several years, and hit at least four per year. If you want to find out the locations, try http://www.bagev.de/index.php?option...ents&Itemid=88

    Hi guys,

    thank you so much!!!
Being new to the kilt topic I was starting to get quite a little frustrated about how my pleats were made.
But I really like my new Kilt..It has it's own personality :-)

    Thanks, Tom

That is the point exactly. It is your kilt and no one elses. And I have to say that I like the way it was pleated. It has a very nice look about it.

Like with wood working a plain peice of wood with no knot in it has no character. Your kilt has character!
