Tattoos?
Interesting enough to reply. I have three tattoos, a scull and moray eel on my upper left chest, an orka and long strands of kelp on my upper right shoulder, and a celtic style sea horse on my left calf.
Just a bit of advice I was given before my first tattoo. Don't put them where a Judge can see them!

I have none, nor will I ever have any. I'm happy with my skin the way it is, but if I decide it needs some decoration I would rather choose something less permanent such as jewellery.
I have spoken to many people who regret their tattoos later in life.

Kilts and Tattoos
I almost got a tat when I was in the service. Of course, I was drunk at the time but I'm glad I didn't. Most of my buddies that did get tats wish now they hadn't. What's neat when you're young can be downright embarrassing when you get older. Tats on the knuckles are kind of a jailhouse mark around here so I'd avoid doing that. Besides, when you go looking for a job blatant tats can get you shown the door pretty fast. Employers don't care what you think is cool, they care about company image.

sun
I have a sun on my ankle. I do want to get two more tats though. I want my company logo (the celtic knot with the waves around it) on one bicep and a Trinity knot on my other bicep.

I have a rampant Welsh dragon on my upper right arm. I have been considering one for my upper left - something Masonic maybe, or the clan crest or a celtic knot. Possibly a rampant lion for Scotland to balance my heritage.

I have 5 tattoos...2 on each arm and one on my shoulder. They all date back to my "outlaw-style" biker days. If I could go back in time I wouldn't have gotten the ones on my arms.

If I could go back, I'd have more tattoos. I started at 50 .... so much skin, so much art, so little time.

I have four tattoos. Two that actually mean something and two that are just sort of flash art. I'll put my two cents in and agree that its not something you want to do on a whim. Take the time to plan out something that means a great deal to you, cuz you are going to have it for many many years to come. Spend the money for a custom designed piece, some of the flash art is pretty good but not nearly as nice as a well drawn custom piece.
Right upper arm-globe with lightning bolt (first tat, badly done)
Left upper arm-Winged gargoyle (second tat, first custom)
Right calf-skeletal dragon (flash art from Singapore, badly healed)
Left calf-my family crest (needs work, but still my favorite)
