It sure is nice to see a wide range of ages represented. Hmmmmm. Maybe kilts are the way to bridge the generation gap.

My last name is Long, changed from Laing. My family was with the House of Gordon before the blight, so that's who I associate with now.

Let's see, my ancestral makeup is lots of English and German, a shot each of Scottish and Irish, and maybe a sprinkling of Welsh and French (I haven't verified the last two), plus the rumored American Indian (which I'll believe when I find evidence). From what I've found so far, I have roughly 6% or so Scottish ancestry.

My Scottish blood comes from my paternal grandmother, whose maiden name was McKean, a derivative of MacIan. Also back in her line are some Cahoon, also Scottish in origin. That side of the family has been on this side of the pond since at least the mid-1700's, so there has been just a bit of blending.

Nice "Buddy Jesus" avatar by the way!

I'm nearly 50% Irish and 50% Scottish... My father's name is Dooley, and my mom's maiden name is Scott... There is the random Englishman or Welshman on my mother's side and apparently 4 or 5 generations ago my great-great-great-great grandfather (or however that works out) on my dad's side had a taste for Cherokee... so I'm about 1/64th Native American... but again, almost nearly all Irish and Scottish...

The wife is Scottish (Burnett) and Dutch (she thinks), so our upcoming baby will be predominately Scottish... though I've been told if it's a boy he gets no kilt...

While my surname is Scottish (McKennon -> MacKinnon), I am mostly Heinz-57.... A mixture of this, a mixture of that... Although, on my dads side, we trace back into the Moffats, the Robertsons and the Gunns.

My Scots ancestry comes primarily from one fellow on my Mother's side. His name was Proffit and came from Angus, Scotland. He had no clan that I know of, but he fought for King James in the first Jacobite rebellion of '15. He was captured and sent to America just to get rid of him.

My other linkage is a Gregory line, again on my mother's side. Because of this, I affiliate with the MacGregor Clan (never really asking if they would have me).

Not much Scottish I guess, but having a Jacobite rebel in my family history is good enough for me
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!
