Should I be worried?

I forgot to mention , changing the settings will not make any previous pics that were posted private , but it will make any pics you use in the future private , after changing the settings .

Any pics that have already been posted will still allow access to the library of pics . After you change the settings , any new pics you use should not allow access to the library .

Let me clarify and answer your question from the executive side of the house.

What you do or do not have on your facebook page, photobucket albums, or anywhere else is not the concern of the staff of X Marks.

Only what you do and what you post here is relevant here.

If someone were to post something like "go see my photos at www.myphotosite.com" and the site contained pornography, then that could be flagged as a possible Rule #3 violation because it is plain that the intent was to use this forum to direct someone to that material. The link was posted here so they would be answerable to the rules here.

In the case you site, where you post an embedded link to photo that is well within our rules, and someone follows that link back to your unprotected photobucket album and sees your stalking photos, would not be seen as a violation.

A loophole? Yea, probably. But if you really want to show someone your stalking photos you could just send them an email.

The only example I can think of, when something may be mentioned, would be a case where someone may find inadvertent access to material of a very personal or potentially embarrassing nature. In this situation a caution may be extended informing them that the content is visible and perhaps should be protected better.

Thank you Steve, for adding your thoughts to this thread and they do back up what others have said. I think it needed saying and for you to say it.

Following on from what Mike (MacGumerait) and others have suggested I will investigate the bolstering up of my security settings, particularly as it does not look too complicated, even for me.

This post has a lot of great information and got me to checking my settings. I only use Photobucket to post here.
Unless there is a real reason, don't scramble your past images or you will have to relink them all here and anywhere else you linked them. I have set my future images only to scramble and my album to private.

But I have always assumed anything I run thru my computer is both accessible or hack-able. Even with my high priced security software running. I am "on line" continuously and my security logs well over 50 blocked access attempts every day.

So, I think, I hope, my security settings have been changed and as I understand it, all pictures that I post here from now on, will not lead back to my photobucket library. But just to be clear, these new settings do not apply to past pictures posted here?

Well, hummmm,not too sure, I can still get back to my picture library, can you? Perhaps the security settings only work with NEW pictures in my photobucket picture library?

So a new picture just added, let's see.

Well I can get back to my picture library, but it seems that others cant! Thanks Alex!

That works Jock.
Click on the photo leads to the same photo in your Photobucket Album.
From there when I click on the link to JockScot07's photo album I receive a message saying JockScot07's photo album is private.
That's spot on, exactly the result you want.

The right click then "open Link" will still get me to the bucket but only the posted picture. Note the page does list your real name as that's your username there.

They are right next(to the east) to Ben Nevis(just to the right of picture) a wee distance from home.

Jock and all,
Since the updates to photobucket, I wanted to test the three types of links that may or may not work here and see which ones can link back to the bucket. This is all copy from photobucket and paste to xmarks editor. You are welcome to poke around with these, like I will be. I think I always use the IMG and it dosen't link back.

UPDATE That's interesting! This picture that I posted a few months ago via IMG here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=77576 didn't allow the link back to photobucket. Now this one does. Hmm

I just unchecked my link back option in my photobucket privacy settings and embedded the new IMG here. Now there is no access to my photobucket page(s) - I think.
