When I was the Executive Chef at a fitness center for a time, you should have heard some of the backlash I got for "limiting" portions! 'Is that all?' - 'Where's the rest?' - 'It's quite expensive for what you get!' You would have thought that the customers had been starving for years at a concentration camp! (These are also the same people who would drive around and around the parking lot looking for a close place to park!)

Glad to hear that people are starting to get into serving sizes and not being super sized. It has helped me be somewhat controlled on my weight, and I really do admire great amounts of weight loss that is done safely congratualations to you Giraffe! And Larry I commend you in serving proper servings even though you get grief at a health fitness center.

    No loops?

Hector Russel kilts have no belt loops?

And I almost got one for my brother! Ach!
Sorry, but as a modern garment, I think kilts that are intended for wear with a belt should have belt loops.

Do they have some rationale for leaving them off?

Well done on the weight loss, I agree with the portion sizing. I work with a lot of women wh oare always discussing the latest diet, my contribution is always to say,' eat less you'll lose weight', their reply is usually 'but I don't eat much'. This is normally while drinking a diet coke and eating a mars bar.
Having said that I can't talk at 18 stone (250+ lbs)
    and admire your self discipline.
To get back on track I have no idea why Hector Russell should leave off belt loops, maybe you need to request them?

There's no doubt a psychological element involved there. Some people expect large portions that may be consumed at their option. I've been in restaurants with dieters who actually wanted the opportunity to binge a bit. They order up large portions of the wrong stuff... esp. potato, fries, bread, deserts, etc. then complain about bloat after.
