Okay , if you don't like salmon , you may have to turn in your badge .

Kidding aside , have you ever tried a good salmon cake ? They're made like a crab cake . Often , folks that don't like salmon do like salmon cakes .

Maybe its as well the guy wasn't a MacLeod, our 'Loud' MacLeod (Lewis Modern) is even brighter and would definitely be a case of the peahen being outshone by the Peacock. LOL.

What kind of weirdo doesn't like salmon?!

Salmon cake is great (we call it a salmon patty around here). Pan-fried in bacon grease with a dusting of cornmeal and HP sauce as a condiment; oh mama! My wife and I also make a killer salmon pie that makes a great hearty meal. I know, "salmon" and "pie" don't usually go in the same sentence. But it's great. It's baked in a regular pie shell.

The only thing not to love about salmon is that the house smells fishy for a day or two after cooking it.

Tobus, I am one of those salmon hating weirdos. I do not want to be around anywhere where it is being cooked.

My father was stationed at the submarine base in Dunoon for some years and salmon cakes is one of the things my mom picked up. We had them regularly when I was growing up. We also frequently had that classic American Navy dish known as 'sh#t on a shingle'. For myself, I miss the white chocolate mice.

I've always liked the Buchanan tartan, which stands out both due to its singular palette, and being asymmetrical.

My mother-in-law, who otherwise was a fantastic cook, occasionally made salmon cakes. I just could not get into them. I did once try salmon jerky that a co-worker brought in - he made it in his smoker so the fish smell was all at his house and maybe that helped because I did like that. I love sushi and will eat any of it but salmon.

It must have been me though - everyone else in the family loved MIL's salmon cakes.

Although bacon grease, cornmeal and HP sound terrific - just need another fish to put in it.

I love HP sauce, especially on meat pies or dry haggis but as a Nova Scotia boy I have to recommend green tomato chow (or chow chow) as the condiment of choice for any fish cake. If you are nowhere near Nova Scotia, the Acadians/Cajuns brought it with them when they were escorted to Louisiana and you can likely obtain some in that area.

Habitant makes it commercially and it is carried at Walmart in some areas.

I've never tried this version, but Google tells me that "Tennessee's Best" makes it.

Oh, and if you're making your own salmon fish cakes, don't be scared of the fresh dill weed - it's your friend.

Edit: haddock and cod (especially salt cod) make mighty fine fish cakes as well.
