Warmer yesterday, around 25c, had to run the car's AC on my way home from work.
But it's sad in a way not having seasons! My kids, aged 20 and 24, have never seen snow, except on far-off mountains a couple days a year. Living so close to the coast we hardly ever get down to freezing. Once in a blue moon there will be frost on the grass, on the cars, first thing in the morning, gone as soon as the sun comes up.
Yes visit! Brings t-shirts, board shorts, flip-flops... well, and kilts! We can all go to my place of work, Disneyland, for a big kilt day, and go down to Laguna Beach perhaps.
It's beautiful here the day after we get a big rain, that drops loads of snow in the local mountains, because you get the combination of crystal-clear sky and distant snow. It's a rare treat for us, to get the snow level low enough on the local mountains for them to be snow-covered all the way down to the foothills.
It looks like this (photo from The Orange County Register, showing Saddleback Mountain in the background)

O.C.,
The picture is beautiful. As far as seasons and snow, I have no kids or grandkids. I have seen snow enough for the rest of my life. I will be more than happy to trade places with you and your family. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I know Disneyland has theme days. Can you put in for "kilt day"?

My tolerance level does not reach down to wind chills of -25 degrees. Fortunately it's about time for the January thaw. Once the highs get into the mid 30's, I'll give the kilts some thought.

That's an awesome idea!
These "days" aren't official (not established or recognised by Disneyland) but are grass-roots things organised over the internet. Dapper Days, Bats Days, Red Shirt Days, Potter Days, Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you), and so forth.
Dapper Days are great examples. They seemed to start off modestly, but the last one was huge. It seemed like at least a quarter of the entire attendance was in vintage clothes. The big Dapper Day coming up, March 1, is expecting 20,000 people in vintage dress.

For a 'kilt day' word would have to get out in our community over sites like this, and we would expect it to start small. The trick is to keep at it, and eventually word will spread. What date would work best?

Great idea, if a touch on the expensive side for a day out from the UK. I'm not sure even Paris would work for thrifty Scots.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

We can figure out a day to make it happen. There are quite a few SoCal residents on this forum, not to mention the fact that there are no less than 10 pipe bands (not counting multiple grades of bands) in SoCal, so it should be possible...
We could arrange to have a pipes and drums flash mob!

Norbo, I hope it warms up a bit for you.. Luckily New Jersey has not been as bad as it can be for winter, I so don't like the cold, but its a price to pay for the Tri state area..I wear my kilts often, but I'm a girl and I can get away with wearing Fleece lined leggings ( stockings) with boots etc.. when not so cold I can wear normal tights/hose and socks.Warm days over the knee socks that I fold down to under my knees w lower boots.. hot weather sandles.. Can't men wear something to cover your legs more ? I've never seen men wear anything but the hose / socks with shoes but is there anything else for men ? ....Stay warm.. .. Angie

Angie,
Unfortunately, the only thing I can wear to keep me warm in winter, in Indiana it can get mighty cold just like New Jersey, is thermal underwear. But that does not look good with kilts.
Stay warm!
