I'll be participating in my town's Remebrance Day parade after I finish my shifts for the all night vigil at the cenotaph. I think next weekend I have to help the local RCL Branch "sell" poppies.

Will be an eventful few days. But I'm usually filled with pride and remembrance every year, never changes.

My day to remember is 10th November. On that day, I will be at the U.S. Marine War Memorial (the Iwo Jima statue) at Arlington National Cemetery for the USMC Birthday Parade. One of the features of that event is a wreath-laying at the Memorial in honor of all Marines who have died in war. That leaves a lot of Marines reflecting on fallen comrades - I will be one of them. This year, I will also be remembering my Dad, a WWII Army combat veteran who died last year. Each year on this date, I also try to eat a breakfast of steak and eggs, which is the traditional chow served on U.S. Navy ships to the landing force before they go ashore in hostile territory.

    Semper fidelis! Lest we forget...
